In the navy of the German Reich, sailor divisions were troop units on land, which formed the reservoir for the crew of the ships and vehicles with seafaring personnel.

The naval divisions were subordinate to the naval inspections in Kiel and Wilhelmshaven ; they each had three divisions of three companies . The first division had a surveying company in Friedrichsort as the ninth company .

At the head of a naval division was a sea ​​captain , and a division a corvette captain .
