Mats Rubarth (born January 25, 1977 in Örebro ) is a Swedish football player . The midfielder , who holds the Swedish Allsvenskan record together with Claes Cronqvist with seven dismissals , came to the Swedish national jersey in 2004 . He also appears as a musician and released an EP in 2001 under the name Rubarth .

Career

Rubarth began his career in the youth of IK Sturehov . In 1992 the midfielder moved to the youth department of Örebro SK , where he moved up to the professional squad in 1997 and made his debut in the Allsvenskan and the UEFA Cup . At first he was used almost exclusively as a substitute, from 17 games in the 1998 season he played only four from the start. Only in the course of the following season he was able to conquer a regular place and in the season 2000 , when the new coach Mats Jingblad used his right foot as a left winger, established himself in the first eleven.

Before the 2001 season Rubarth moved to league rivals AIK . After a few teething problems, he also earned a regular place here. Due to his aggressive style of play, he was thrown off the pitch several times, the blocking times usually meant the only downtime. In the 2003 season he drew attention to himself when he was able to score ten goals this season and was the club's top scorer. He was then called up to the Swedish national team in spring 2004 and came to his only appearance in the national jersey on January 22, 2004, when the national team lost 3-0 to Norway .

When AIK had to relegate to the Superettan in the winter of 2004 , Rubarth remained loyal to the club and, as a regular in midfield, contributed to the direct resurgence. After an injury in May 2007 he only played ten season games in the 2007 season, but was able to fight for a regular place after his return to the field. Shortly before the end of the following season, he announced his departure from the Solna club after eight years.
