The Matsalubucht (German: Matzalwieck ) is a 67 square kilometer bay of the Baltic Sea in Estonia south of the city of Haapsalu in Lääne at the level of the waterway between the western islands of Hiiumaa (Dago) and Saaremaa (Osel).

The four to six kilometer wide and 16 kilometer long bay is part of the Matsalu National Park, founded in 2004 and encompassing 486 km² . It got its name from the village of Matsalu (German: Matzal) on the south side.

The banks are sandy , the vegetation consists of grass as well as reeds and rushes ( pond rushes or beach ledges ). The bay is home to many species of water and wading birds and sea eagles . On September 21, 2011, 20,200 cranes were counted.

The river Kasari flows into the bay on the east side in a delta .
