The Matschelsee is a lake about 52 meters deep between the towns of Ichenheim (municipality of Neuried ) and Kurzell (municipality of Meißenheim ) directly on Bundesstraße 36 in the district of Ichenheim ( Baden-Württemberg ). The surface of the lake was used to mine gravel and sand until it was flooded .

The lake is now mainly by anglers and scuba divers used for the exercise of their sport and enjoys in these circles increasing popularity.

In Matschelsee there is a small wreck in the form of a fishing boat, which is often visited by divers, in addition to many pike , crabs and other lake dwellers .
