Matthew "Matt" Shea (born April 18, 1974 ) is an American Republican politician who represents the fourth district of Washington state in the House of Representatives in his home state .

Life

Matt Shea studied Political Science and History at Gonzaga University . Having these studies with the Bachelor had finished, he studied at the Gonzaga University Law . He then settled down as a lawyer.

He also served in the National Guard in the 1-161st Infantry , most recently as a company commander.

politics

Shea has been a member of the Washington House of Representatives since 2009. He was last re-elected from 2018 to 2021.

He advocates the formation of a new state of Liberty with Spokane as its capital.

In December 2019, a report by the Washington House of Representatives came to light that he may have been guilty of involvement in a terrorist act against the United States in the context of the 2016 occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge . According to the December 19, 2019 report, he also supported the Patriot Movement's militia training and holy war training . The Republicans then expelled Shea from their faction, he lost his seats in parliamentary committees. But he refused to resign and called the investigation a witch hunt.

During the COVID crisis , Shea led protests against his state's government. He took the view that the SARS-CoV-2 virus was bred in Chinese laboratories. The quarantine measures served to disempower the president and deprive citizens of their rights.
