Matt Stonie
Matt "Megatoad" Stonie (* 24. May 1992 in San Jose , California ) is an American betting eaters and YouTuber .
Life
Stonie graduated from Evergreen Valley High School and trained as a dietitian and nutritionist at Mission College in Santa Clara. He started Stonie's career as a betting eater at the age of 18 in 2010 by winning the lobster bun competition in Hampton Beach. A year after winning this amateur meal, he registered with the Major League Eating to take part in professional eating contests. His professional debut was the Stockton Deep Fried Asparagus Championship in Stockton in 2011. With his victory at Nathan's Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest, he crowned his unbeaten year of competition in 2015. Stonie impresses with his eating technique. He is known for his "out-of-the-gate speed", whereby in competitions he builds up a big lead over his competitors through his speed.
On the video platform YouTube, Stonie regularly uploads videos under the name "Matt Stonie" in which he films himself eating a competition. His channel has over 11.1 million subscribers and around 350 videos with a total of over 2.06 billion views (as of April 2020) . His most popular videos received over 71 million views (as of February 2020) .
