Matthew Richardson (born April 12, 1999 in Perth ) is an Australian track cyclist who specializes in the short-term disciplines.

Athletic career

Matthew Richardson began his athletic career as a gymnast until he had to give up the sport in 2013 due to an elbow injury.

In 2017, Richardson was two-time Australian junior champion, in the sprint and team sprint. At the beginning of 2019 he won the 2018/19 World Cup in Hong Kong together with Thomas Clarke and James Brister and then made his World Cup debut . He finished sixth in the team sprint with Patrick Constable and Nathan Hart . At the Oceania Championships 2020 (which were held in 2019) he finished second with Clarke and Nathan Hart in the team sprint. At the UCI Track World Championships 2020 in Berlin , he won the bronze medal with Hart and Thomas Cornish in the team sprint.
