Matthias Brückner

Matthias Brückner (born April 21, 1960 ) is a former German soccer player. Between 1978 and 1985 he played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Motor Suhl in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . Brückner is a multiple junior national player of the GDR.

Athletic career

According to the squad list, Matthias Brückner played for the junior league team of FC Carl Zeiss Jena until 1977 . He was part of the GDR junior national team from 1976 to 1978 and played 21 international matches with her, in which he scored two goals. Brückner made his first league appearance on the 20th match day of the 1977/78 season when he was substituted on for center forward Thomas Töpfer in the 76th minute of the match between Wismut Gera and FC Carl Zeiss (1: 6) . Brückner's goal for the 1: 6 final score was also his only top division. For the season 1978/79 Brückner was announced for the first time in the squad of the league team, but played only in the junior league. In the seasons from 1979/80 to 1982/83 he was officially back in the junior team's squad, in the 1981/82 season he was used once, in 1982/83 four times in league games.

When the junior league was set after the 1982/83 season, Brückner moved to the league relegated Motor Suhl in the second-rate GDR league . There he was used in all 22 league games in 1983/84 and helped the team to get promoted again immediately. In the league season 1984/85 he played as a defender twelve games of the first half of the season, but could then only be used twice. Since Motor Suhl did not manage to stay in the league, the team then played again in the GDR league. In 1985/86 34 point games were played in the GDR league, of which Brückner played 28 games for Motor Suhl. After only twelve missions in the 1986/87 season, he was drafted into the military for a year and a half in November 1986. During this time Brückner played in the army sports community Vorwärts Wolfen in the third-class district league Halle . After his release in April 1988, he returned to Motor Suhl and played two GDR league games by the end of the season. In the 68 point games of the two following seasons 1988/89 and 1989/90 Brückner was used 38 times.

Already in February 1990 Motor Suhl had restructured to 1. Suhler SV and played in the 1990/91 season in the newly founded Northeast League, the 2nd division of the also newly founded Northeast German Football Association . 30 point games were completed in which Suhler SV Brückner played 23 times. After a league reform of the German Football Association , the northeast league was renamed Oberliga Nordost and was only 3rd division in the DFB league system. After that, Suhl and Brückner did not return to higher-class football.
