Rolf Matthias Dischler (born July 8, 1956 ) is a German basketball official .

Life

Dischler played basketball until he was 23, before quitting after an injury. He studied in Heidelberg law , after stays in England and Mexico , he opened in 1987 in Karlsruhe a law firm. From the end of the 1980s, he was involved in various functions at the BG Karlsruhe and its predecessor association, including many years as a manager. His tenure included, among other things, the promotion to the second division in 1995 and promotion to the basketball league in 2003. In October 2004, a dispute between Dischler and Diethelm Tacke, the chairman of the then name sponsor Iceline, made headlines. Tacke accused Dischler of "unprofessional behavior" and called for his resignation. In December 2004 the BG Karlsruhe separated from the company Iceline, Dischler's contract as managing director at the BG was extended. "Matthias Dischler, manager, president and owner of the club, built basketball in Karlsruhe," said Der Tagesspiegel in March 2007, assessing the importance of Dischler for basketball in Karlsruhe.

In April 2008 Dischler resigned as managing director of BG Karlsruhe Basketball GmbH (operating company of the professional team), but continued to sit on the company's economic committee. From July 2009 to June 2013 he was again managing director of the GmbH.

In spring 2015, Dischler succeeded Torsten Daume as managing director of BG Karlsruhe Basketball GmbH, against which insolvency proceedings were initiated in September 2018. The team had crashed into the 2nd regional league by the 2018/19 season and was now playing under the umbrella of the newly founded BG Karlsruhe Basketball Youngstars eV, where Dischler was also involved in the club's work and also took on the coaching position during the 2018/19 season .
