Matthias Falke

Matthias Falke (* 1970 in Karlsruhe ) is a German writer , editor and translator.

After graduating from the Lessing-Gymnasium in Karlsruhe and completing basic military service in the Air Force , he studied musicology , literature and philosophy at the universities of Karlsruhe and Freiburg / Breisgau from 1991 to 1999 . He wrote his master's thesis on Max Bruch ’s symphonies . Falke's drama Kassandra-Szene was awarded the audience prize at the 1st authors' competition of the Karlsruhe Sandkorn Theater on July 7, 2007. His short story Harey was nominated for the Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in 2009; at the German Science Fiction Prize she took 3rd place. Falke's short story "Boa Esperanca" was nominated for the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize in 2010 and won the German Science Fiction Prize. His novella Der Bruch der Nordwestlichen Stelze (published in Nova 19) was nominated for both prizes in 2013, while the novel Bran was nominated for the Kurd-Laßwitz Prize in 2014.
