Matthias Flubacher

Matthias Flubacher (born July 11, 1784 in Läufelfingen ; † May 6, 1869 in Basel ) was a Swiss politician .

Life

Flubacher was an innkeeper and farmer in Bad Bubendorf . In collaboration with the Agricultural Association founded in 1818, he campaigned for the modernization of rural production methods.

From June 1833 he was a Grand Councilor in Basel and after the complete separation of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft he sat in the district administrator in Liestal from September 1833 to 1838 . As district administrator he was involved in the creation of the first school law . Politically, he represented the direction of the so-called party of order.

From 1840 to 1844 Flubacher was more conservative Government . On the monastery question, he expressed himself moderately. From 1849 he was a member of the first board of directors of Basellandschaftliche Hypothekenbank . He was seen as an opponent of Christoph Rolle and as a contributor to the independent Basel area .
