Matthias Frey (politician)

Matthias Frey (born July 22, 1964 in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse ) is a German judge and politician ( FDP ). From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament .

Life and work

Frey, who is of Protestant denomination, attended the Leibniz Gymnasium in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse from 1974 to 1983 , where he graduated from high school in 1983 . From 1983 to 1989 he studied law in Mannheim and Freiburg and graduated in 1989 with the first state examination and in 1992 with the second state examination. In 1998 he was promoted to Dr. jur. PhD. From 1989 to 1992 he did his legal clerkship in the district of the Palatinate Higher Regional Court in Zweibrücken, at the German-Ecuadorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Quito / Ecuador and in an industrial company in Stuttgart. From 1992 to 1996 he was a judge in the Rhineland-Palatinate judiciary. He was a judge at the OLG in Zweibrücken , 2001 to 2005 judge at the Frankenthal regional court , 2005 to 2011 director of the Kandel district court and since 2012 director of the Neustadt an der Weinstrasse district court . Since 1994 he has been a member of the German Association of Judges .

politics

In 1985 Frey became a member of the Young Liberals and the FDP. From 1992 to 1995 he was district chairman of the Young Liberals Palatinate and was then appointed honorary chairman. In 1992 he became a member of the district board of the FDP Pfalz, 1996 district chairman of the FDP Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and 2002 deputy chairman of the FDP board of the Pfalz. From May 21, 1996 to May 17, 2001 he was a member of the state parliament (replacing Günter Eymael ). There he was a member of the commission under Article 10 of the Basic Law, the Parliamentary Control Commission, the Petitions Committee, the Legal Affairs Committee, the Prison Commission, the Election Review Commission, the "Administrative Reform" Commission of Inquiry, the "Administrative Reform" sub-committee, and the "Red Light" committee of inquiry .
