The Leibniz-Gymnasium is a regular school in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse in the Palatinate . As a high school in the country Rhineland-Palatinate it leads in eight and a half years (grades 5 to 13) for high school or in six (5 to 10) for GCSEs .

The Leibniz Gymnasium had 948 students in the 2014/2015 school year; the college consisted of 90 teachers, six of whom were trainee teachers.

Geographical location

The Leibniz-Gymnasium with the street address Karolinenstraße 103 is at 178  m above sea level. NHN on the northeast corner of the Afrikaviertel in the west of the core city of Neustadt near the edge of the forest. In the south, the slope of the Nollenkopf ( 490  m ) stretches upwards. The high school is about 1.5 km from the city center and the main train station .

building

The high school has an almost square floor plan. It consists of a four-story building that surrounds an inner courtyard. The old school building with a high bell tower, to which the new building is seamlessly connected, is characteristic.

history

In 1892 the predecessor of today's Leibniz Gymnasium, the secondary school for boys, was inaugurated. In the second half of the 20th century , what was temporarily called the Oberrealschule was expanded into a grammar school, which was later also open to girls.

Focus

Particular focus is on a bilingual German-French train and a concept for integrated professional, methodical and social learning.

Franco-German train

If the French-bilingual course is chosen, the qualification from grammar school is also recognized in France. The program is supported by the French government.

Advanced learning

A concept developed by the school itself integrates technical, methodical and social learning. Part of this concept are various events on methodology and a focus on presentations. School development measures are intended to further improve the program.

Upper school design

In the upper level there is a wide range of courses in the artistic and sporting areas. A change from Realschule plus to Leibniz Gymnasium is possible when learning the foreign language Latin in the upper level.
