Günter Eymael

Günter Eymael (born February 12, 1952 in Ürzig on the Moselle ) is a German winemaker and politician ( FDP ). From 1987 to 2011 he was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament with interruptions .

Life and work

After completing secondary school in 1967, Eymael first completed an apprenticeship as a winemaker, which he completed in 1969 with the assistant test. From 1970 he attended the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences and studied viticulture and oenology at Geisenheim . He graduated there in 1973 with the academic degree of graduate engineer for viticulture . From 1974 to 1976 he did military service in the Bundeswehr . Eymael then ran his own winery as a self-employed person. Eymael has been Deputy Chairman of the Association of German Oenologists since 1981.

Eymael joined the FDP in 1973. From 1978 to 1982 he was chairman of the FDP city association and from 1980 to 1990 chairman of the FDP district association Bad Dürkheim. In 1983 he was elected to the state board of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate and in 1988 he took over the chairmanship of the FDP district association Palatinate. For 20 years (1979 to 1999) he was a member of the city council in Bad Dürkheim , of which he has been a member since 2009. From 1989 to 1991 he was also a member of the district council in the Bad Dürkheim district .

In the state elections in 1987 , Eymael was elected to the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate, to which he belonged until 1991 as deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. At the same time he was a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Viticulture and Forestry, the Media Policy Committee and the Committee of Inquiry into "Casino Concessions and Broadcasting Licenses".

From 1991 Eymael worked as a ministerial director in the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Forests and was appointed State Secretary in the same year . From 1994 he held the post of State Secretary in the Ministry of Economics, Transport, Agriculture and Viticulture . In the state elections in 1996 he was re-elected to the state parliament, but renounced his mandate on May 21, 1996 in order to continue to exercise the post of State Secretary. For him moved Matthias Frey according to the state parliament. The same procedere took place in 2001; this time Reinhold Hohn came up for him. After the state elections in 2006 , an SPD sole government was formed, which is why he resigned as State Secretary.

Eymael was again a member of the state parliament from 2006 and was elected parliamentary manager of the FDP state parliamentary group. Due to his training, he is considered an expert in the field of viticulture and was spokesman for the FDP for agriculture and viticulture, as well as economy and transport. In the 15th electoral term he was a member of the Council of Elders, the Committee for Economics and Transport and the “Nürburgring GmbH” committee of inquiry. In the state election in 2011 he was not re-elected.

Eymael has been a member of the Palatinate District Assembly since the local elections in 2004 . In 2009 he was a member of the 13th Federal Assembly and in 2010 a member of the 14th Federal Assembly in Berlin.

On March 13, 2016, Eymael was elected mayor of Bad Dürkheim-Seebach and confirmed in his office in the local elections on May 26, 2019 .
