Matthias Gastgeb (born September 7, 1985 in Vienna ) is an Austrian Jiu-Jitsu fighter (Japanese Jiu Jitsuka ).

Career

The son of the qualified sports teacher Friedrich Gastgeb began playing Jiu-Jitsu at the age of six. In 2001 he was accepted into the national team of the Jiu-Jitsu Association Austria. In 2002 he was able to achieve first place at the "Bavarian Open - Germany". Two years later in 2004 he fought third place in the European Cup. The next year he was sidelined due to a shoulder injury.

At the 2008 World Championships, he won 7th place with a broken metacarpal. In 2009 he won the final of the Jiu-Jitsu European Championships in Podgorica in Montenegro in the men's class up to 85 kg against the Belgian Willy Dupont with "Full-Ippon" the title.

At the 2009 World Games in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, he won the match against the Dutchman Gertjan Hofland in the small final and won the bronze medal.
