Matthias Hummitzsch

Matthias Hummitzsch (* 1949 ) is a German theater actor.

Life

Hummitzsch studied from 1970 to 1974 at the "Hans Otto" theater school in Leipzig . After engagements in Halle (Saale) , Senftenberg , Schwerin , Chemnitz and Dresden , he switched to Schauspiel Leipzig in 1996 . Since then, Hummitzsch has played numerous leading roles in productions at the Leipzig theater.

In addition to his theater work, Hummitzsch played the leading role in the 2003 mdr productions Martin Luther - A Life Between God and the Devil (or Luther's Last Journey ). In the same year he was seen in the 31st episode of SOKO Leipzig ("The Love Trap"). In 1994 he had already played in the crime series Polizeiruf 110 episode: "No love, no life".

In 2009 the documentary Katharina von Bora - nun, businesswoman, Luther's wife was broadcast. Hummitzsch embodied Martin Luther here again.

Hummitzsch also teaches drama at Faculty III of the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig .
