Matthias Lammert (* 28. June 1968 in Tübingen ) is a German politician of the CDU , since 2001 Member of the Rhineland-Palatinate regional parliament and since 2019 deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Life, education, professional career

After graduating from high school in Diez (today's Sophie-Hedwig-Gymnasium ) in 1988, he completed military service with subsequent training as a reserve officer (lieutenant dR). From 1991 to 1999 he studied law and political science with an MA at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz .

He is married and has a son and a daughter.

Political and social functions

In 1991 Lammert became a member of the Junge Union and in 1993 the CDU. From 1992 to 1998 he was a member of the district committee of the Junge Union Rhein-Lahn and from 1996 to 1998 its chairman. Between 1995 and 2005 he was chairman of the CDU local association in Diez , and since 1997 he has been chairman of the CDU regional association in Rhein-Lahn. Since 2007 he has been deputy chairman of the CDU district association Koblenz-Montabaur. He has been district chairman of the CDU Koblenz-Montabaur since autumn 2019.

Since 1994 he has been a member of the Diez City Council and since 1999 a member of the Rhein-Lahn District Council. Lammert has been a member of the Diez municipal council since 2004 .

From 1999 he was deputy chairman of the CDU district parliamentary group and since 2009 he has been its chairman. After the state election in 2001 , he was on 18 May 2001 a member of the state parliament . In the state elections in 2011 and 2016, he was elected to the state parliament via the state list.

Lammert was domestic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group until June 2019. He is a member of the Committee for Home Affairs, Sport and Regional Planning , a member of the Prison Commission and a member of the Committee on Family, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection.

Matthias Lammert has been deputy parliamentary group chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in Rhineland-Palatinate since June 2019.
