Matthias Lerm
Matthias Lerm (* 1965 in Leipzig ) is a German architect and urban planner .
Life
At the Technical University of Dresden , Lerm completed an architecture degree from 1986 to 1991 with a focus on urban planning and then carried out research on urban planning in Dresden after 1945. In 1994 he received his doctorate and until 1996 worked for the Dresden architecture firm Schwarzbach Architekten.
In 1996 Lerm moved to the administration of the state capital Dresden, where he was responsible for the redesign of Dresden's inner city, from 2003 advisor for sustainable development and from 2004 coordinator for the UNESCO World Heritage Dresden Elbe Valley . Since 2003 Lerm has been a member of the municipal monument preservation working group of the German Association of Cities and is a member of the German Werkbund Sachsen eV
In 2007 Lerm moved to Jena , where he became head of the urban development / urban planning department and urban architect.
In 2009 Lerm became a member of the Thuringian Chamber of Architects and was admitted there as a specialist judge. In 2010 he was appointed to the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning . In 2011 he completed his habilitation at the Technical University of Dresden on the subject of urban planning in the second half of the 20th century . In 2014 Matthias Lerm was accepted as an extraordinary member of the Association of German Architects (BDA), in 2016 in the specialist commission "Urban Planning and Urban Development" of the German Association of Cities , 2017 in the "Commission for Sustainable Building" at the Federal Environment Agency (KNBau), in 2019 in the AG Municipal Monument Preservation of the German Association of Cities.
On May 1, 2019, he became head of the city planning office of the state capital Magdeburg.
Lerm is the author of over 60 scientific publications on the subjects of architecture, urban planning, urban planning, monument preservation and sustainability. He is married and has a daughter.
