Matthias Mayer (born October 23, 1986 in Vienna ) is an Austrian handball player .
Career
Born in Vienna, he began playing handball in his youth at WAT Atzgersdorf. In 2008 he started his professional career at UHC Gänserndorf in the Handball League Austria , after only one year in the highest league in Austria, he was relegated to the Handball Bundesliga Austria with the Lower Austrians . In the 2010/11 season he played again for his youth club in the regional league before he was hired again at UHC Gänserndorf a year later. For the 2012/13 season he moved within the second division to WAT Floridsdorf . Between 2013 and 2015, the outside player played for Union St. Pölten and was able to celebrate promotion to the Handball League Austria in his first season with the Lower Austrians. In 2014/15 the team could not keep the class. Until 2016/17 Mayer ran again for the UHC Gänserndorf.
