Matthias S. Fifka

Matthias S. Fifka (* 1974 in Nuremberg ) is a German economist and social scientist. Fifka is a professor of business administration, especially strategic and value-based management, at the Economics Institute of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg , of which he is also a director.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1994, he studied economics and social sciences in Erlangen-Nuremberg, the Universidad de Salamanca and the University of Florida , Gainesville. Following the studies, he worked as a research assistant at the Department of International Studies / International Studies of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, where, after a long stay in Washington, DC in 2004 with a thesis on "business organizations in the US" doctorate was. Teaching activities followed in Nuremberg, Clermont-Ferrand , France, and Cleveland, USA. In 2011 Fifka completed his habilitation with a thesis on “Corporate Citizenship in Germany and the USA” and he received the venia legendi in the subjects of business administration and international studies. Also in 2011 he accepted a call to the Dr. Jürgen Meyer Endowed Chair for International Business Ethics and Sustainability at the Cologne Business School , Cologne.

In research and teaching, he deals with strategic management - in particular the holistic implementation of value management, sustainability and corporate governance - as well as international economic relations and the economic and political system of the USA . He is active in scientific commissions and advisory boards, e. B. for the European Union, the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs and the Federal German Working Group for Environmentally Conscious Management eV (BAUM eV). He is also a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts. Since the beginning of 2008 he has been Deputy Director of the German-American Institute in Nuremberg.

Fifka was visiting professor at the Jiaotong University Shanghai , the University of Dallas , the Vienna University of Economics , the Maastricht School of Management and the École supérieure des sciences commerciales d'Angers (ESSCA).

He is the author and editor of 12 books. He has also written around 50 articles for specialist journals and contributes to the media. He was also a guest in economic policy programs on channels such as 3sat and Phoenix.
