Csaba Földes (born June 8, 1958 in Almasch / Bácsalmás , Hungary ) is a Germanist specializing in contemporary German and German as a foreign language and holds the chair for German linguistics at the University of Erfurt . He is a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (DrSc) and President of the Central European Association of Germanists (MGV).

Career

Csaba Földes studied German , Slavic and General Linguistics from 1976 to 1981 in Debrecen , Odessa , Moscow , Leipzig and at the Humboldt University in Berlin . He then worked as a lecturer at the language center of the Technical University of Kecskemét and as a GFL teacher at a pedagogical college. In 1987 he received his doctorate from the University of Jena .

Between 1985 and 1996 he worked as a research assistant, since 1993 as a university professor in the German department of the “Gyula Juhász” University of Education in Szeged and as a lecturer at the University of Szeged . In 1987 he completed his habilitation at the University of Debrecen . From 1996 to 2012 he was university professor for German linguistics at the Pannonian University of Veszprém ; in the meantime he has represented professorships for German linguistics and for German as a foreign language at universities in Germany and Austria. In addition to his chair in Veszprém, Csaba Földes was also professor of German at the J. Selye University in Komárno ( Slovakia ). In 2008 he was appointed doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences .

Földes has been Professor (W3) for German Linguistics in Erfurt since the 2012/2013 winter semester. In 2013 he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Anatoly Omeltchenko Theater School in Volgograd .

Other functions and memberships

Member of the "International Scientific Council" of the Institute for German Language (IDS) in Mannheim , board member and advisory board member (1998–2006), vice-president (2006–2010) of EUROPHRAS: European Society for Phraseology , member of the scientific advisory board of the Society for Interculturalism German Studies (GIG) , member of the International Association for German Studies (IVG) , member of the Austrian Society for German Studies (ÖGG), member of the New York Academy of Sciences .

Founder and head of the Competence Center for Intercultural Linguistics / German Studies and, within this framework, of the “International Research and Young Talent Network for Intercultural German Studies” at the Pannonian University of Veszprém; Editor u. a. the magazine for Central European German Studies (ZMG) , the series of contributions to intercultural German studies (BIG) , the series of texts from cultures and the Studia Germanica Universitatis Vesprimiensis .
