Matthias Veltin

Matthias Veltin (born March 1, 1961 in Tübingen ) is a German diplomat who has been Ambassador to Togo since September 2019 .

Life

After graduating from high school in Mönchengladbach in 1980 and completing civilian service in 1981, Veltin began studying philology at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen , which he completed in 1987 with a master's degree.

career

In 1988 Veltin began the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and after its graduation worked at the embassy in Russia between 1990 and 1993 and then from 1993 to 1996 permanent representative of the ambassador in Togo . After he was employed in the Foreign Office between 1996 and 1999 , he worked at the Embassy in Norway from 1999 to 2003 and, on his return to Germany, was Deputy Head of the Foreign Office between 2003 and 2007 . He then worked at the embassy in Nigeria from 2007 to 2012 and then head of division at the Federal Foreign Office between 2012 and 2015.

In July 2015, Veltin succeeded the retired Hartmut Krausser as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guinea . On September 14, 2015, he was received by the President of the Republic of Guinea , Alpha Condé , to present his credentials.

In September 2019 he moved to the German embassy in Lomé / Togo.
