Matthias Vollmer

Matthias Vollmer (* 1962 in Bielefeld ) is a German linguist and university lecturer.

Life

Matthias Vollmer studied German, history and psychology at Bielefeld University until 1991 and received his doctorate in 1996. In April 1998 he became a research assistant at the Pomeranian Dictionary , first at the Saxon Academy of Sciences in Leipzig and from January 1999 at the Institute for German Philology at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald . In January 2014 he completed his habilitation with a thesis on the East Pomeranian dialects. In Greifswald he gives lectures on the history of the German language from the 16th century to the present day. Since 2016 he has also headed the DFG project "Digitales Vorpommersches Flurnamenbuch".

Honors

In 1998 the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg awarded Matthias Vollmer the Agathe Lasch Prize .
