Matthieu Roger Jean Gourdain (born May 4, 1974 in Vernon ) is a former French saber fencer .
successes
Matthieu Gourdain became vice European champion in 1996 in Limoges and in 1999 in Bozen with the team European champion . At world championships he succeeded in 1997 in Cape Town and in 1999 in Seoul winning the title, he also won in 2001 in the individual bronze. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 he reached the individual final, in which he was defeated by Mihai Covaliu with 12:15 and thus received the silver medal. He also reached the finals with the team after victories over Ukraine and Germany . Russia prevailed in this 45:32 against the French team, with which Gourdain won another silver medal.
