Matthijs van den Adel

Matthijs van den Adel (born November 12, 1944 in Rotterdam , Netherlands ) is a Dutch bank manager.

Life

Van den Adel was in the service of Rabobank from 1975 to 1989 , during which time he was, among other things, special representative of the board of directors for the examination of large loans , management of large financing projects and the acquisition and integration of participations and general secretary of the Unico Banking Group.

In 1990 he became a member of the board of directors of Fuji Bank . In 1995 he moved to Fortis Nederland before he was finally appointed to the board of WestLB in January 2004 . As Chief Risk Officer (CRO) he was responsible for risk management and as Labor Director responsible for human resources .

Matthijs van den Adel, like Thomas R. Fischer, was dismissed from the WestLB Management Board in 2007 after he was charged with misconduct in connection with WestLB's unsuccessful speculation with Volkswagen AG shares. In the legal proceedings, the "wrongdoing" was denied and his innocence was confirmed.
