Mattias Oskar Gustafsson (born July 11, 1978 in Åkersberga ) is a Swedish handball player . He is 1.93 m tall and weighs 104 kg.
Gustafsson, who plays for the Swedish club Ricoh Handboll and played for the Swedish men's national handball team, is mostly used as a circle runner.
In his youth, Mattias Gustafsson played for Åkersberga and Skånela before joining the Stockholm club Polisen / Söder. Here he made his debut in the Swedish first division. In 1999 Gustafsson moved to Norway to Viking Stavanger, where he won the Norwegian Cup in 2000. After only a year, however, he returned to Sweden, where he joined IFK Skövde HK. There he won the EHF Challenge Cup in 2004 , in 2005 he moved into the final of the Swedish championship, where he was defeated by the IK Sävehof . In 2006 Gustafsson went to Denmark to join FCK Håndbold . With the capital club he won the Danish championship round in the 2006/07 season, but was eliminated in the semi-finals of the play-offs. A year later he finally won the Danish championship with FCK. In the summer of 2008 Gustafsson moved to AaB Håndbold, with whom he won the Danish championship in 2010. In summer 2010 he moved to TuS N-Lübbecke . For the 2014/15 season he returned to Sweden for first division promoted Ricoh Handboll.
Mattias Gustafsson has played 102 caps for the Swedish national team so far . For the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he could not qualify with Sweden; At the 2008 European Championships in Norway, he was only part of the extended squad of his country. In the summer of 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London and won the silver medal.
On June 27, 2009 Gustafsson married the handball player Madeleine Grundström .
