Mattias Tesfaye (born March 31, 1981 in Aarhus ) is a Danish social democratic politician and has been Minister for Foreigners and Integration Affairs since June 27, 2019.

Career

Tesfaye is the son of a Danish mother and an Ethiopian father. During his training as a bricklayer , he was active in the union Specialarbejderforbundet i Danmark . He also joined the Danmarks Kommunistiske Parti Marxister-Leninister , from which he switched to Enhedslisten in 2005 . In 2008 he became a member of the Socialistisk Folkeparti , to whose board he was elected in 2012. After joining the Danish Social Democrats, he was elected to the Folketing in 2015 .

Political positions

Tesfaye stands up against social dumping . On immigration issues , he is one of the main exponents of the restrictive course that the Social Democrats under party leader Mette Frederiksen took . In educational policy, he argues against neglecting vocational training in favor of academic training.
