Wall hare (Polish: Królik po berlińsku ) is a German-Polish documentary about the fate of the wild rabbits living in the death strip during the German-German division . The documentary was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Short Documentary in 2010 .
The film describes the time of division from the point of view of the rabbits, to whom the actual meaning of the processes at the inner-German border remains hidden and alien. They assume that the wall was built for their safety.
The time of division is a happy one for the rabbits as they can live largely untouched and free from natural predators in the death strip. After the fall of the wall, the rabbits are forced to find their way in the west.
