Mauro Bellugi (born February 7, 1950 in Buonconvento ( SI ), Italy ) is a former Italian football player .

Career

Mauro Bellugi began his career in the youth of Inter Milan , where he joined the first team in 1969. He scored one goal in 137 Serie A games for the Nerazzuri . In 1970/71 he won the Italian championship with the team. In the following season he reached the final of the European Cup with Inter , which they lost to Ajax Amsterdam with 0-2. In 1974 Bellugi moved to FC Bologna , who won the Italian Cup a year before the move. In four years of Bologna Bellugi could not win a title. In 1979 he moved to SSC Napoli for a year and later to promoted AC Pistoiese . The team was relegated immediately and Bellugi ended his career at the age of 31.

Internationally, Mauro Bellugi played 32 times for Italy, but could not score a goal. He made his debut on October 7, 1972 against Luxembourg . Bellugi took part in the 1974 World Cup in Germany , where he was eliminated from the group with the Squadra Azzurra as third in the preliminary round. At the 1978 World Cup in Argentina , he was used five times and was fourth in the tournament with the national team. The midfielder made his last major appearance at the 1980 European Football Championship in his home country. There he was also fourth with Italy.
