Mauro Bonifacio

Mauro Bonifacio (born March 9, 1957 in Milan ) is an Italian composer , conductor and music teacher .

Life

Bonifacio studied at the Milan Conservatory with Piero Rattalino (piano) and Azio Corghi (composition). He attended conducting courses from Karl Österreicher (Verein Wiener Musikseminar, Vienna 1983), Franco Ferrara (Ente Arena di Verona, 1983) and Mario Gusella (Accademia Musicale Pescarese, 1984). From 1979 to 1981 he conducted at La Scala in Milan . In 1992 he conducted the world premiere of Corghi's ballet Un petit train de plaisir , choreographed by Amedeo Amodio, at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro . For Ricordi he recorded the work with Bruno Canino , Antonio Ballista and Les Percussions de Strasbourg . Since 1984 Bonifacio teaches at the Conservatory of Parma .

His own compositions have been performed at several festivals (including Biennale di Venezia, Milano Musica, RomaEuropa) and interpreted by musicians such as Pierre-Yves Artaud , the Dedalo Ensemble , the Ensemble Contrechamps and Jean Louis Petit . Inquieto per 9 strumenti was recorded on CD by Fonit-Cetra and performed at IRCAM (1994), at the Musica di Venezia Biennale (1995) and at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (1995). For Rai 3 he composed the radio operas Il frutto senza nome (1994, libretto by Emilio Isgrò ) and Tragedia di Roncisvalle con bestie (1996, libretto by Giuliano Scabia ).
