Pierre-Yves Artaud
Pierre-Yves Artaud (born July 13, 1946 in Paris ) is a French flautist, composer and music teacher.
Pierre-Yves Artaud graduated from the Paris Conservatory with a degree in flute and chamber music and began a career as a solo flutist with internationally renowned orchestras under conductors such as Pierre Boulez , Jean-Claude Casadesus , Charles Dutoit , Péter Eötvös , Lawrence Foster , Arturo Tamayo and Tsung Yeh . He is particularly interested in contemporary music, and composers such as Gilbert Amy , André Boucourechliev , Franco Donatoni , Brian Ferneyhough , Sofia Gubaidulina , Toshio Hosokawa , Klaus Huber , Betsy Jolas , Michaël Levinas , Paul Méfano , Emmanuel Nunes , Luis de Pablo and Yoshihisa Taira dedicated works to him.
In 1965 Artaud founded the Arcadie flute quartet . For many years he was a member of the 2e2m ensemble . In 1981 he was appointed director of the Atelier de Recherche Instrumentale at IRCAM by Pierre Boulez and held this position until 1986. In 1985 he founded the Orchester de flûtes français .
Artaud worked as a professor at the Paris Conservatory and also gives master classes worldwide. He was u. a. with the Médaille des Arts, Sciences et Lettres (1978), the Prix Charles Cros (1983, 1985 and 1995), the Grand Prix de l'Académie du Disque Français (1984) and the Prix de la Réalisation Pédagogique of SACEM (1998) excellent.
