Mauro Zani

Mauro Zani (born November 22, 1949 in Sala Bolognese , Italy ) is an Italian politician and member of the European Parliament with the Democratici di Sinistra party , which is part of the European Social Democratic Party . He is a member of the development committee .

Zani is a deputy in the Committee on International Trade , a member of the delegation to the ACP - EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly and a deputy in the delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council .

  • 1988–1991: Party secretary of the Bologna section of the PCI ( Partito Comunista Italiano ) and the PDS ( Partito della Sinistra )
  • 1991–1992: Regional Secretary of the PDS for Emilia-Romagna
  • Member (1992–1994) and coordinator (1994–1997) of the party secretariat of the PDS
  • 1999: Party secretary of the Bologna section of the DS (Democratici di Sinistra)
  • 2000–2002: DS Regional Secretary for Emilia-Romagna
  • 1976–1980: Member of the Regional Council of Emilia-Romagna
  • Member of the Provincial Council (1980–1990) and City Council (1990–1992) of Bologna
  • 1985–1987: Vice-President and later President of the Provincial Council of Bologna
  • 1994–2004: Member of the Chamber of Deputies
  • 1996–2001: Deputy Chairman of the DS Ulivo Group
  • 2001–2004: Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee on European Union Policy
