In Ottoman times, the place belonged to the League of Zagori (Κοινόν τῶν Ζαγορισίων) and has existed in today's expansion since 1706, when descendants of the apostate Isaim Alizot Pasha (Ισαήμ Αληζότ Πασάς) settled there.

history

Already before 1900 the place had a school. Today's school was built in 1928 and up to 40 students attended until the pre-war period. From ancient times until the 1970s, the inhabitants lived from agriculture and cattle breeding. Due to the strategic location, heavy fighting took place during the civil war. Especially in the skirmishes on Christmas 1947 there were many casualties among the civilian population and on the part of the democratic units. Since then, the population has decreased sharply due to emigration and emigration. The number of inhabitants fluctuates seasonally.
