Max Beckmann Prize
The Max Beckmann Prize of the City of Frankfurt am Main has been awarded every three years since 1978. It is awarded for outstanding achievements in painting , graphics , sculpture or architecture and is endowed with 50,000 euros.
The award commemorates the artist Max Beckmann , who lived in Frankfurt from 1915 until he was expelled from there in 1933. It is awarded on February 12th, Max Beckmann's birthday. Prize winners do not have to have an artistic relationship with Beckmann.
