Max Bauer (writer)

Max Bauer (born July 1, 1829 in Berlin , † October 1, 1914 in Berlin) was a German writer . He also published under the pseudonyms Rusticus and Maximilian Rusticus .

The captain's son a. D. and government councilor Ludwig Bauer (approx. 1800–1856) and his wife Loiska (Lais), b. von Knobelsdorff (1802-1891), was a doctor of law . From 1852 to 1880 he owned the Adendorf manor near Gerbstedt , Mansfeld-Südharz district , and initially wrote about French model agriculture. In Berlin he published the magazine Deutsche Warte in 1883 . From 1893 he was the owner and publisher of the Red Cross magazine . He wrote a number of humorous works.

In 1869 Bauer was awarded the Medal of Merit for Art and Science by Duke Ernst II of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha .
