Max Burgmann

Max Adolph Burgmann (born October 26, 1844 in Goldberg (Mecklenburg) , † March 7, 1929 in Schwerin ) was a German lawyer and mayor of Schwerin.

Life

Burgmann was born in 1844 as the son of an administrator and, after attending grammar school in Goldberg, studied law at the universities in and Jena , Berlin, Leipzig, Rostock and Heidelberg . In 1862 he became a member of the Teutonia Jena fraternity . After completing his studies, he worked as an attorney and procurator in Schwerin in 1873 , as an official auditor from 1874 to 1878 , in 1879 as a clerk at the Marlow City Court , and in 1880 as a district judge , court assessor and district attorney . From 1881 to 1898 he was a councilor, a member of the municipal council in Schwerin, and a council deputy or senator . From 1884 to 1906 he was the conductor of the Armendirektion, from 1891 to 1898 City General Counsel and from 1898 to 1918 Mayor of Schwerin. After his retirement in 1918 he was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Schwerin.
