Damien Walters (born April 6, 1982 in Chesterfield , Derbyshire , England ) is a former British artistic gymnast who specialized in tumbling . Today he works as a stunt man and stunt coach and freerunning .

Life

Success as a trampoline gymnast

He took part in four trampoline world championships . In 2003, he won the team competition world championship as one of four members of the British team. In 2001 and 2007 he reached 4th place with the team. In addition, he finished 5th in the individual competition in 2003 and 2005. He won the European team championship in 2006, after he had already achieved second and eighth place in the individual competition two years earlier. After that he stopped taking part in tournaments, but concentrated on his other projects, especially on his career as a stuntman . He's also appeared in a few commercials and performed acrobatics. Damien Walters is 1.78 m tall and weighs 76 kg.

Success as a stuntman

In 2007, Walters received a call and request from the stunt agent from Jackie Chan after watching one of his videos on YouTube in which he performed stunts such as jumping sideways over a car that was driving towards him. He thought the request was a joke at first, but was eventually persuaded to give up his gymnastics career in favor of a career as a stuntman. Walters has had a role as a stunt double or stunt performer in the films: Hellboy - The Golden Army , Ninja Assassin , Scott Pilgrim vs. the Rest of the World , The Eagle of the Ninth Legion , I Am Number Four , Blitz , Colombiana and Captain America - The First Avenger . In Kick-Ass he worked both as a stunt double and as an assistant for the coordination of the fights. He is also involved in fight scenes in the films of Sherlock Holmes - Game in the Shadows and 47 Ronin . In 2010, he won the Taurus Award for Best Fighting Scene in the film Ninja Assassin .

Walters also does parkour and freerunning , where he uses his gymnastics and stunt skills. He is one of the most watched freerunners on YouTube, his videos have been viewed over 132 million times.

He currently runs his own training facility in Derbyshire and is making films.
