Max Cantor

Max Cantor (born May 15, 1959 - October 3, 1991 in New York City , New York ) was an American actor and journalist .

Life

Cantor was born in 1959 as the son of theater producer Arthur Cantor . In 1982 he graduated from Harvard University . After that he turned to his acting career. After roles in two TV pilot films, he played the role of the arrogant waiter Robbie Gould , who quotes the books by Ayn Rand, in the hit film Dirty Dancing in 1987 . In 1989 he starred in the comedy Fear, Anxiety & Depression .

He began writing for The Village Voice as a journalist in the late 1980s . He became addicted to heroin while doing research for an article on substance abuse . He died of a heroin overdose on October 3, 1991 at the age of 32.
