Max Eschenhagen
Johann Friedrich August Max Eschenhagen (born October 22, 1858 in Eisleben , † November 12, 1901 in Potsdam ) was a German geophysicist .
Life
The son of a carpenter attended schools in Eisleben and Nordhausen . After 1877 he studied mathematics, physics and descriptive natural sciences at the University of Halle . He received his doctorate and went to Hamburg as a teacher in 1882 , where he first came into contact with geomagnetics while preparing for a polar expedition , the research of which determined his life from then on. In 1902, Adolf Schmidt succeeded Eschenhagen as director of the Magnetic Observatory in Potsdam.

- In recognition of his services, he received the title of professor in 1895 .
