Hubert Julius Maximilian "Max" von Guilleaume (born February 16, 1866 in Cologne , † June 15, 1932 in Remagen ) was a German regatta sailor and entrepreneur .

Max von Guilleaume came from the entrepreneurial family of the same name from Cologne , who became known through the Felten & Guilleaume rope factory . He acquired the estate in the Calmuth Valley, which was previously the cloister courtyard of the Benedictine Propstei Apollinarisberg in Remagen. The idyllic house looked modest back then; Guilleaume had it extensively rebuilt and expanded based on designs by Otto March until 1911 . A representative mansion was built, called Schloss Calmuth .

As a sailor he traveled to the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 , but did not compete in the 20 ton class. As a sailor, he also took part in the Emperor's Cup between Dover and the island of Helgoland . After the death of his wife Clara, he withdrew from business and social life and committed suicide on the porch of his house. It is believed that in addition to the depression over the death of his wife, financial problems after the economic crisis led to his suicide.
