Max Kölges

Max Kölges (born October 29, 1880 in Dülken ; † January 5, 1973 in Mülheim an der Ruhr ) was a district master craftsman and politician first of the Center Party , later of the CDU .

Live and act

Kölges was a hairdresser and was an independent master hairdresser between 1900 and 1935. As such, he was between 1904 and 1925 and again from 1929 to 1933 chairman of the guild committee of the united guilds (district craftsman) in Mülheim an der Ruhr. In addition, Kölges was a member of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Crafts between 1910 and 1933 .

Kölges was politically active in the Center Party until 1933. From 1919 to 1933 he was city councilor for Düsseldorf-West. He was also a member of the Prussian state parliament between 1921 and 1933 .

At the beginning of National Socialist rule , Kölges was briefly imprisoned several times.

After 1945, Kölges became department chairman and vice-president of the Düsseldorf Chamber of Crafts. He was also a member of the supervisory board of the “Handwerk, Handel und Gewerbe” health insurance scheme and chairman of the Association of Guild Health Insurance Funds .

Also in 1945 he became mayor of Mülheim as one of the deputy mayor. He was also chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council. Kölges was also a member of the CDU zone committee, the CDU state executive in the Rhineland and a CDU district executive .

In 1946 Kölges was a member of the Provincial Council for North Rhine. He was also a member of the appointed Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia in 1946 and 1947 .

A street in Mülheim was named after Kölges in 1982, and since 2012 a secondary school in Mülheim has also been named after Kölges.
