Max Liess

Max Liess (born December 11, 1956 in Brisbane , Australia ) is a Bremen politician ( SPD ) and was a member of the Bremen Parliament .

Family, education and work

Even before Liess could complete his first year, his parents returned to Germany. After graduating from high school in Bremen-Lesum , Liess studied mathematics and history to become a teacher for secondary level II . Before he could start his legal clerkship in Bremen, he worked for two years as a teacher at a language and tutoring school. After the clerkship, he served as honorary teacher at the Bremer Volkshochschule and teachers in the correctional block land and Oslebshausen operates. This was followed by retraining as an IT lecturer and one year as a programmer in construction and housing data processing. He is currently working as a system designer at Mercedes-Benz in Bremen .

Liess lives in Bremen-Burglesum.

Liess joined the SPD in 1974 when he was 17, influenced by Willy Brandt's politics . For the SPD from 1979 to 1982 and from 1988 to 1991 he was a member of the advisory board at the Burglesum local office . He held various activities and functions within the SPD. For eight years he was chairman of the SPD sub-district of Bremen North. He is currently chairman of the SPD local association Burglesum for the repeated time.

From 1999 to 2019 he was a member of the Bremen Parliament. For eight years he was the economic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and a member of the parliamentary group's executive committee. He was currently represented in the committee for port matters in the state of Bremen, budget and finance committee (state and city), audit committee (state and city), temporary committee for the amendment of the state constitution and in the works committee "Performa Nord" as well as in the city deputation for Environment, construction, transport, urban development and energy.
He has been the budgetary and financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group since 2011.
