Max Lippmann

Max Lippmann (born February 16, 1906 in Posen , † January 26, 1966 in Mainz ) was a journalist and SPD member of the Hessian state parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school at the humanistic grammar school , Max Lippmann became an editor , radio commentator at Breslauer Rundfunk and film journalist. After power was handed over to the National Socialists , Lippmann emigrated from 1933 to 1948 to Prague, Paris and later London. Lippmann was interned during his time in France. After his return to Germany, he was a permanent member of the Voluntary Self-Control of the Film Industry (FSK) and held honorary positions in cultural associations. He was also director of the European Research Group on Refugee Issues (AFR). At the German Institute for Film Studies , Lippmann, who was of Jewish origin and had himself experienced the consequences of emigration and internment, was committed to the critical reappraisal of the Nazi film industry.

From December 1, 1954 to November 30, 1958, he was a member of the Hessian state parliament for the SPD. Lippmann lived in Wiesbaden until his death .
