Max Lucado

Max Lucado (born January 11, 1955 in San Angelo , Texas ) is an American evangelical missionary, bestselling author and long-time pastor of Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas , which originally belonged to the congregations of Christ .

Life

Lucado grew up as the youngest of four children of Jack and Thelma Lucado in Andrews , Texas. His father worked in oil fields and his mother was a nurse. He attended the Christian University in Abilene , where he did a bachelor's degree in communication. He originally wanted to be a lawyer, but a Bible course and missionary trip changed his mind; and he decided in 1975 to become a missionary . Therefore, he graduated from the same university with a master's degree in biblical theology.

Lucado then became a youth minister for the Church of Christ in Miami , with a favorite job writing text for the ward news . 1983–1988 he moved to Rio de Janeiro as a missionary and helped build three churches. In 1985 his first book On the anvil (German: Auf dem Amboss) was published by Multnomah Verlag , his second work was discovered and made popular by the publicist Chuck Swindoll . In 1988 he returned to pastor the Oak Hills Church of Christ in San Antonio. He contributed to the fact that the style of worship became more contemporary and that the congregation grew from 600 to 4000 people. In 2007 he resigned as senior pastor for health reasons. He has been writing since then, but continues to preach in Oak Hills.

Lucado is married to Denalyn and they have three daughters.

Lucado has written over 50 books for adults, teenagers and children, some of which were on the New York Times bestseller list . His vivid interpretations of the Bible, narratives, stories and anecdotes have been translated into various languages ​​and achieved worldwide distribution with over 100 million copies sold.
