Max Neuenschwander (lawyer)

Max Neuenschwander (born August 30, 1930 in Oberdiessbach ; legal resident in Höfen ) is a Swiss lawyer and civil servant .

Life

Neuenschwander attended grammar school in Bern from 1945 to 1949 and studied law at the University of Bern from 1949 to 1956 . He became an advocate and worked from 1956 to 1960 as a clerk at the High Court of the Canton of Bern . In 1960 he joined the Swiss Confederation and initially worked as a civil servant in the Federal Aviation Office, then as Deputy Director in the Department of Aviation, and finally from 1987 to 1992 as Director of the Federal Office of Civil Aviation .

Under his leadership came the revision of the aviation law and the negotiation of bilateral aviation agreements with foreign countries. He was also politically involved in founding the left-liberal Junge Bern and advocated environmental protection demands . Max Neuenschwander sat for Switzerland in the European Civil Aviation Conference and was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Swiss air navigation service provider Swisscontrol from 1988 to 1994 .
