Max Dietrich Willutzki , also Max D. Willutzki (born October 17, 1938 in Eberswalde ) is a German director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating from high school, Max Willutzki studied German in Munich . One of the first experiences with professional film work was an internship in 1962 while filming Busted Chains . In 1967, Willutzki took over as assistant director for Jean-Marie Straub's feature film Not Reconciled , based on the novel Billard at 9.30 by Heinrich Böll . Before he started studying directing at the Berlin Film Academy from 1966 to 1968, he made his first own films. 1973 Willutzki shot The Long Jammer . For this film he took over the direction, production and wrote the script. The long jammer was awarded the Federal Film Prize and received three prizes at the Mannheim Film Festival .

In 1977, Willutzki received the jury and audience award at the “Rencontres Internationales de Cinema et de la Jeunesse” in Cannes for Vera Romeyke is not sustainable .
