Max Zimmermann (architect)

Max Zimmermann (born October 31, 1881 in Plauen ; † 1962 ) was a German architect.

Life

Max Zimmermann attended the secondary school in Plauen until 1901 and then studied architecture at the Technical University of Dresden . In 1906 he graduated as a graduate engineer. In 1910 he became a member of the Corps Lusatia Dresden. In 1911 he became a Dr.-Ing. With Cornelius Gurlitt at the Technical University of Dresden. PhD. After his diploma, he became a government building master or government building officer in the Saxon civil service. As the deputy of Hubert Georg Ermisch , the director of the Zwingerbauhütte , he was instrumental in securing and rebuilding Dresden's monuments after the end of the Second World War . After Ermisch's death, he was responsible for rebuilding the kennel from 1951 until his death in 1962. Under his successor Arthur Frenzel, the external reconstruction of the Zwinger was completed in 1964.
