Max Zuberbühler

Max Zuberbühler (born November 11, 1924 in Herisau ) is a Swiss trade unionist .

Life

Zuberbühler comes from a working class family ; his mother was a housewife , his father a roofer and sticker . He attended secondary school, made a carpentry apprenticeship and completed during the Second World War, the recruit school .

He was politicized early on; He dealt with law in self-study , which led him to work in the field of legal protection at the trade union headquarters and on the board of directors of the Swiss Accident Insurance Fund ; In 1950 he joined the Social Democratic Party of Switzerland through the Swiss Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association . From 1954 to 1959 Zuberbühler was secretary of the trade union in Biel, where he was a member of the city council (legislature); for the union he was labor secretary in Frauenfeld , where he also worked at the district court; in the area of legal aid he worked with Willi Ritschard . He was elected Central Secretary in Zurich, where he was tasked with establishing legal protection, negotiating with employers from various companies and promoting the education of young people.

In 1978 he became the central president of the construction and timber union , for which he resigned from political offices.
