Maxim Alexejewitsch Schuwalow ( Russian Максим Алексеевич Шувалов ; born April 23, 1993 in Rybinsk ; † September 7, 2011 in Tunoschna near Yaroslavl ) was a Russian ice hockey player who was under contract during his career with Lokomotive Yaroslavl from the Continental Hockey League . At the U18 Junior World Championship in 2011 , he won the bronze medal with the Russian national team .
Career
Shuvalov played during his junior years at the club in his hometown, HK Rybinsk . In the KHL Junior Draft 2010 he was selected in the second round in 38th place by Lokomotive Yaroslavl . This put him in the 2010/11 season in the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League at their youth club Loko Yaroslavl . There he scored a goal in 51 games of the season and prepared five more. In the playoffs he played another three games. At the start of the 2011/12 season of the Continental Hockey League , he was part of the extended line-up of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
On September 7, 2011, he was killed in a plane crash near Yaroslavl . The Yaroslavl team was on their way to their first game of the season at HK Dinamo Minsk .
International
Shuvalov played with the Russian national team at the U18 World Junior Championships 2011 in Germany . He played seven games in which he received four penalty minutes. After losing to Sweden in the semi-finals and beating Canada in the game for third place, he won the bronze medal with the team.
