Maximiliano Olivera , full name Maximiliano Martín Olivera De Andrea , (born March 5, 1992 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.81 meter tall defensive player Olivera has been in the squad of the Uruguayan first division team Montevideo Wanderers since the Apertura 2010 . Six appearances in the Primera División in his first season followed, depending on the sources, 16 or 17 league games in the 2011/12 season and 26 first division appearances (three goals) in 2012/13. He played twice in the Copa Sudamericana in 2013 . In the 2013/14 season he came 31 times in the top Uruguayan league to train (three goals). His team won the Clausura 2014 and was Uruguayan runner-up. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 23 other top division games (two goals) and eight matches (one goal) of the 2015 Copa Libertadores . This was followed by 14 more premier league appearances (one goal) for the club in Apertura 2015. At the beginning of February 2016, the Wanderers team captain moved within the league to Club Atlético Peñarol . Olivera, whose transfer rights were with Grupo Casal at the time , tied himself to his new employer for a year. With the "Aurinegros" he contributed in the Clausura 2016 with a goal in 14 first division appearances to win the state championship 2015/16. He was also used - each personally goalless - in five games of the Copa Libertadores 2016 and two matches of the Copa Sudamericana 2016 . After playing another first division game (no goal) in the 2016 season, he moved to Fiorentina on loan at the end of August 2016 during the current season . By the end of the season, he played 18 Serie A games , two Coppa Italia matches and six Europa League games with the Italians . He did not score a competitive match.

For the 2017/18 season, Olivera finally moved to Fiorentina. He played seven league games throughout the season. In the next season he was not part of the matchday squad except for two games in which he was not used. Olivera was then loaned to Club Olimpia in Paraguay for the following year . With Club Olimpia he became Paraguayan champion in both the Apertura and the Clausura in 2019 .

After this loan expires, he will be part of the AC Florence squad again from January 2020. From February 2020 it was awarded to FC Juárez in Mexico.

National team

Olivera took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection in the U-20 South American Championship 2011 and was vice-South American champion. He was used four times during the tournament. He didn't score a goal. He was also a member of the Uruguayan squad at the U-20 World Cup that year . In the competition he played two games. Olivera was also part of the U-23 squad set up by national coach Óscar Tabárez in the run-up to the 2012 Summer Olympics .
